Preparation

Before

  • You should exfoliate well the day before your tan in order to remove any dead skin cells          (this will help prolong your tan).
  • Moisturise the day before the treatment especially dry areas of the body - elbows, knees etc.
  • Shave/wax at least 24 hours before the treatment.
  • Refrain from eyelash /eyebrow tinting.  Allow 24/48 hours to pass as it may react with the tan.
  • It's a good idea to paint nails (hands and toes) to build up a barrier against the solution.
  • Do not wear deodorants, perfumes, aftershaves, make up or any other preparation on your skin on tanning day as these can act as a barrier to the tanning solution.
  • Ensure you remove contact lenses.
  • Bring dark loose fitting clothing to change into after the treatment, as tight clothing will cause the tan to rub off during the developing stage.
  • Flip flops/loose shoes are ideal to wear after the treatment, it is not advisable to wear tight fitting footwear.

After

As the tan develops we recommend that you do not;

  • Sit on light fabric/leather seats for up to 3 hours following application.
  • Wash your hands for at least 4 hours so the DHA can penetrate the skin.
  • Do not rub the skin too harshly after washing, just pat dry.
  • Put on tight clothing for at least 5 hours.
  • Shave for at least 12 hours.
  • Apply moisturiser prior to the post tan shower.
  • Exercise or swim prior to the post tan shower.
If sleeping before post tan shower we recommend wearing socks over hands to avoid rubbing off or uneven spreading of the tan solution. This will also stop you getting tan solution on your palms.

In order to maximise the duration of your tan do;

  • Remember that the tan does not have any SPF factor so wear sun protection as usual. We advise oil free sun cream as oils break the DHA and could create an uneven tan.
  • For best results you should wait 24 hours before showering or washing,                                          as the tan needs time to develop.
  • Apply moisturiser morning and evening after your post-tan shower. Avoid moisturiser containing Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) as this can cause the skin to exfoliate faster.
  • Pat skin dry after showering instead of rubbing dry.
  • Take care when exercising, as heavy sweating may cause your tan to fade unevenly and prematurely.
  • Avoid long hot baths / showers as well as visiting swimming pools / jacuzzis.
  • Avoid waxing preferably until the tan has disappeared.
